ActivTrades offers ActivTrader, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, predominantly spread-based pricing, and services through several legal entities. Before comparing its accounts, check which company will hold your funds, the trading costs for your chosen instruments and the protections that apply under that entity.
This ActivTrades review 2026 examines the broker’s accounts, fees, platforms, regulation, funding and HFR cashback. HFR currently lists 19.50% of the eligible executed spread for its Standard rebate listing. Broker conditions and cashback eligibility are separate, and neither applies universally across countries or account arrangements.
ActivTrades review 2026: the short answer

ActivTrades is a multi-entity forex and CFD broker offering its proprietary ActivTrader platform, MetaTrader 4 (MT4) and MetaTrader 5 (MT5). TradingView can connect to an eligible ActivTrader account. Its retail pricing is mainly spread-based, although financing costs and product-specific fees can apply.
The legal entity determines which regulation, leverage restrictions, products and protections apply. UK, European and international clients should not use a global headline as a substitute for the terms in their own account agreement.
HFR separately advertises 19.50% of the eligible executed spread for the Standard rebate listing, covering specified instrument categories. This is a rebate calculation basis, not a fixed amount per lot, and depends on account approval and eligible activity.
ActivTrades legal entities and regulation
ActivTrades operates through several legal companies. The applicable regulator and client protections depend on the contractual entity named in the Client Agreement, not on the brand alone.
| Legal company | Regulator / reference | Relevant caveat |
|---|---|---|
| ActivTrades PLC | UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), FRN 434413 | Applies to business conducted through the UK entity; FCA status should not be extended to clients of other group companies. |
| ActivMarkets Empresa de Investimento, S.A. | Portugal CMVM, registration no. 433 | ActivTrades’ EU legal notice identifies this entity for derivative trades; final regulatory status and permissions should be checked in the CMVM register. |
| ActivTrades Corp | Securities Commission of The Bahamas (SCB) | ActivTrades Corp appears in the SCB’s 2026 securities-firm register. ActivTrades lists company registration 199667 B. |
| ActivTrades Markets Ltd. | Mauritius FSC, licence GB24203277 (broker disclosure) | ActivTrades states that the Mauritius entity is regulated by the FSC; confirm the current authorisation on the regulator’s register. |
| ActivTrades CCTVM Ltda. | Banco Central do Brasil and CVM | Brazilian registers identify ActivTrades Corretora de Câmbio, Títulos e Valores Mobiliários Ltda., CNPJ 43.050.917/0001-03. |
ActivTrades also lists ActivTrades Financial Services L.L.C. in the UAE under Capital Market Authority (CMA) Category 5, licence 20200000480. Its published permissions concern consultation, arranging, introducing, and promotion; they should not be described as a general CFD-dealing authorisation.
Clients should match the company in their onboarding documents to its official regulator record. HFR’s guide to why forex brokers use different legal entities explains why the same brand can offer different rules in different regions.
Regulation imposes supervisory and legal obligations, but it does not guarantee the safety of funds or prevent trading losses.

ActivTrades account types and minimum deposit
The public offering is primarily organised around live trading accounts and platform choice rather than clearly separated Raw and ECN retail tiers. Demo, Islamic and Professional arrangements serve different purposes. HFR’s “Standard” rebate label is not proof that every ActivTrades live configuration qualifies.
| Account / status | Main purpose | Important condition |
|---|---|---|
| Individual/live | Live trading account | Platform, product and legal-entity restrictions apply |
| Demo | Virtual-fund practice | ActivTrader, MT4 and MT5; simulated execution differs from live liquidity |
| Islamic / swap-free | Potentially eligible swap-free arrangement | Approval, instrument exclusions and possible administration fees |
| Professional | Client classification, where available | Requires assessment; some retail protections may not apply |
ActivTrades says its global (.com), UK (.co.uk) and European (.eu) services generally have no minimum initial deposit. Certain jurisdictions require USD 250, so the amount displayed during onboarding is the relevant figure for the particular account.
Islamic-account conditions require particular care: cash indices are excluded, and stock and crypto positions can still incur swaps. ActivTrades describes a five-calendar-day grace period for qualifying positions before administration fees may apply.
A live account uses ActivTrader, MT4 or MT5, with varying product coverage. Approval for a professional or Islamic arrangement does not establish eligibility for HFR cashback.
ActivTrades fees, spreads and trading costs
ActivTrades’ current help centre states that most forex and CFD products have no separate transaction commission. Trading still has costs, including variable spreads, overnight financing and any product-specific fees.
| Cost component | How it can apply |
|---|---|
| Spread | Difference between the bid and ask price; varies by instrument and market conditions |
| Trading commission | Generally, not charged on most forex and CFD products, with specific exceptions |
| Swap / overnight financing | May apply when positions remain open overnight |
| Other charges | Can include administration, conversion, funding or withdrawal-related fees depending on the situation |
Variable spreads can widen with liquidity and market conditions. A live symbol specification and the relevant entity’s fee schedule are more useful than a single advertised minimum spread.
For example, a hypothetical 1.2-pip spread with a $1 pip value would represent a $1.20 spread cost for that position before any other charge. This is illustrative, not a current EUR/USD quote.
ActivTrades says most forex, index, commodity, bond, cryptocurrency-CFD, share-CFD and ETF-CFD products do not carry a separate trading commission. Exceptions include some Brazilian share and spot-ETF investments and exceptional stock-CFD access for certain financial-sector clients. Check the exact product and entity schedule.
Swap-free status does not exempt every instrument or open position from charges. Check the broker’s eligible-symbol list and administration-fee rules.
ActivTrades leverage, margin call and stop-out
Leverage depends on the legal entity, instrument, account classification and sometimes position size. UK and European retail protections can limit leverage more strictly than some international offerings. No single maximum should be presented as universal.
Margin level is equity divided by used margin, multiplied by 100. When floating losses reduce equity, margin level can fall even if the cash balance shown in the account has not changed.
ActivTrades says its stop-out threshold varies between 30% and 50% by regulatory framework. Positions may be closed automatically once the relevant margin condition is triggered; execution can be affected by market movements and available liquidity.
For illustration, $4,000 in equity divided by $10,000 in used margin produces a 40% margin level. This would be below a hypothetical 50% stop-out trigger but above a 30% trigger. It does not represent a recommended margin level or a promise of execution at the threshold.
High leverage makes it easier to take large exposure relative to equity and can accelerate losses. HFR’s margin call vs stop out guide explains what happens when margin level falls.
ActivTrader, MT4, MT5 and TradingView compared
ActivTrades supports ActivTrader, MT4 and MT5, but the products and features differ. TradingView is a connection for eligible ActivTrader accounts, not a separate ActivTrades account type.

| Feature | ActivTrader | MT4 | MT5 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stock CFDs | Yes | No | Yes |
| Automated trading | No | Yes, via EAs/MQL4 | Yes, via EAs/MQL5 |
| Hedging | Yes | Yes | Available upon request |
| Timeframes | 9 | 9 | 21 |
| Chart types | 14 | 3 | 3 |
| Strategy tester | No | Simple | Advanced |
| TradingView integration | Yes | No | No |
ActivTrader is ActivTrades’ web-based platform, with TradingView-powered charts, advanced symbol search, market-sentiment tools and progressive trailing stops. The broker’s published platform comparison lists 14 chart types and nine timeframes.
MT4 supports MQL4 Expert Advisors, but ActivTrades does not offer stock CFDs on MT4. MT5 supports MQL5 automation, more timeframes, and a more advanced strategy tester; stock CFDs are included in the published platform comparison.
To connect through TradingView, users need an eligible ActivTrader account. The supported TradingView instrument list is narrower than ActivTrades’ entire catalogue; the integration should not be interpreted as access to every available CFD.
Tradable markets and product restrictions
ActivTrades provides access to several asset classes, but the exact instruments available depend on the client’s legal entity, platform and jurisdiction.
- Forex: currency-pair price exposure.
- Indices and commodities: contracts linked to market benchmarks, metals, energy and other commodities.
- Shares and ETFs: predominantly CFDs, with platform and regional exceptions.
- Bonds: selected government-bond derivatives.
- Cryptocurrencies: CFDs providing exposure without ownership of the underlying coins.
ActivTrades documents exceptions for some Brazilian investment accounts that offer underlying shares or spot ETFs with different fees. Do not apply those terms to its CFD accounts elsewhere.
ActivTrades advertises a broad overall instrument range, but headline counts such as “1,000+ instruments” should not be treated as universally available. Clients should check the live instrument list for their account, entity and chosen platform before relying on a particular market being accessible.
Deposits, withdrawals and account currencies
ActivTrades lists bank transfer, Visa and Mastercard, Neteller, Skrill and PayPal among available funding methods. The options in a particular client area depend on the legal entity and country.
Deposits are generally free on ActivTrades’ side, although banks and payment providers can charge. Deposits in a currency different from the account currency can be accepted in EUR, GBP, CHF or USD and converted with a 0.5% broker currency-conversion fee.
ActivTrades commonly lists EUR, GBP, USD and CHF, with other account currencies in some regions. Check the available choices when opening the account.
Withdrawals are generally free on the broker’s side, but certain bank transfers may incur £9 (or equivalent). Card recipients can also face local charges.
ActivTrades says it normally processes withdrawals within one business day; bank transfers may take a further three to five business days to arrive. Processing and receipt are different steps.
Card and third-party-provider withdrawals generally follow the original funding route up to the deposited amount. Amounts beyond that may be paid by bank transfer under the broker’s rules.
For a wider explanation of bank, payment-provider and conversion charges, see HFR’s forex broker deposit and withdrawal fees guide.
Client funds protection, security and complaints
ActivTrades describes segregated client-money arrangements and negative balance protection for retail accounts. The applicable legal rights depend on the contracting entity and client classification.
Segregation concerns the treatment of client money, while negative balance protection limits certain eligible retail-account liabilities. Neither prevents market losses, margin close-outs or the insolvency of a broker.
ActivTrades advertises enhanced funds insurance, but a headline figure should not be treated as proof of current coverage. The broker’s publicly linked certificate for ActivTrades Corp covers 1 June 2025 to 31 May 2026, while other certificates in that document also show expired periods. Obtain a current policy or certificate and check the insured legal entity, exclusions, excess and claims conditions before relying on the protection.
For eligible investment-related claims against ActivTrades PLC, UK Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) protection may apply up to £85,000 per eligible person, per firm, subject to claim eligibility. This is the investment limit, not the separate £120,000 UK bank-deposit protection limit.
Written complaints and eligibility for the UK Financial Ombudsman Service depend on the contracting entity and the relevant complaints policy. The UK route cannot be assumed for accounts held with other group companies.
Readers can use HFR’s guide to checking whether a forex broker is regulated to verify the relevant firm and permissions before funding an account.
ActivTrades cashback through HighFxRebates
HFR lists 19.50% of the eligible executed spread under its ActivTrades Standard rebate arrangement for forex, metals, oil and energies, shares and equities, indices and cryptocurrencies. This percentage is an HFR rebate condition, not an ActivTrades trading fee. Account attribution and eligible instruments must be confirmed.
The rebate is a share of the eligible spread cost, not a fixed amount per lot. For example, a hypothetical $12 eligible executed spread cost multiplied by 19.50% gives $2.34:
$12 × 19.50% = $2.34
This is a simplified illustration. The final amount depends on the eligible spread and activity recognised and reported under the partner arrangement.
New ActivTrades accounts
For a new account, register using the tracked link on HFR’s ActivTrades page, enter the trading account details under Forex Accounts in HFR, and wait for account confirmation. Opening an account and having it approved for rebates are separate steps.
Existing ActivTrades accounts

For an existing account, HFR directs clients to request an ActivTrades partner reassignment using IB 36018. The broker must approve the change before the client submits the account for HFR review. Earlier trades should not be assumed to qualify retroactively.
HFR’s explanation of how forex rebate payments work covers account tracking, broker reporting, reconciliation and payout timing.
Advantages and limitations
ActivTrades offers a choice of ActivTrader, MT4 and MT5, with TradingView connectivity on eligible ActivTrader accounts. Its mainly spread-based pricing may be straightforward for instruments with no separate transaction commission.
Limitations include differences in leverage, product availability, account protections and some charges by legal entity. Stock CFDs are unavailable on MT4, and not every ActivTrader instrument is available through TradingView.
HFR cashback is subject to separate account attribution, trade eligibility, and broker reporting. The rebate calculation should be considered alongside, not instead of, the broker’s trading fees and protections.

Final verdict
ActivTrades may be relevant to traders comparing ActivTrader, MT4 and MT5, mainly spread-based costs and access to several CFD markets. The conditions that matter are the ones offered by the entity and platform assigned to the client.
Before registration, check the legal company, the relevant fees and swaps, instrument availability, leverage, client protections and funding conditions. Do not rely on a single group-wide headline.
HFR separately lists 19.50% of eligible executed spread for approved linked activity. Review the live ActivTrades cashback conditions before registration or an existing-account transfer.
Forex and CFD trading carries a high risk of loss, particularly with leverage. Rebates return part of eligible trading costs after confirmation; they do not remove market, execution, liquidation or counterparty risk.
Risk warning and disclaimer
Forex and CFD trading involve a high risk of loss, especially when leverage is used. Losses may occur rapidly, and negative balance protection, compensation schemes or segregation rules do not prevent trading losses. Cashback may offset part of eligible trading costs after confirmation, but it does not reduce market, leverage, execution, liquidation, funding or counterparty risk.
