Gate Review 2026 cover featuring the official Gate logo in blue and green with a modern black and blue 3D design.

Gate offers a broad range of crypto trading products and tools, but the conditions are not identical for every user. This Gate review 2026 examines the exchange’s trading fees, products, legal structure, KYC requirements, security controls and Proof of Reserves, with attention to how conditions can vary by product, legal entity and region.

The live HFR Gate cashback page currently lists 20% of eligible commissions paid on qualifying Spot and Alpha activity, with rebates paid Daily & Direct to the Gate account. This HFR arrangement is separate from Gate’s own fee schedule and should not be read as covering Futures, Margin or every other Gate product.

Cashback can offset part of an eligible trading fee after qualifying activity is confirmed, but it does not reduce market, leverage, liquidation, custody, operational or counterparty risk.

Gate review 2026: the short answer

Gate offers a broad product range and advanced trading tools, but fees, available products and legal terms need to be checked for the specific account and jurisdiction rather than assumed from one global page.

For Spot trading, Gate’s current VIP0 reference is 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker, with lower published rates at higher VIP tiers and a 0.09% maker/taker reference when the applicable GT fee deduction is used at VIP0. Futures pricing is more complex because rates vary by VIP level and contract category.

Gate also provides derivatives, Margin, Alpha, Convert, trading bots, Copy Trading, Earn and API access, although availability can differ by legal entity, country and verification status.

Gate publishes Proof of Reserves using Merkle Tree and zk-SNARK technology and provides user self-verification tools. Its latest dated reserve report located for this review used a 19 August 2026 snapshot and reported about $8.215 billion in reserves with an overall reserve ratio of 127%. These figures are point-in-time disclosures, not a guarantee against custody, operational or counterparty risk.

Separately, HFR currently returns 20% of eligible commissions paid on listed Spot and Alpha activity, Daily & Direct. This is not a blanket rebate across all Gate products, and Futures should not be assumed to qualify.

Gate at a glance

Item Current reference
Exchange type Centralised crypto exchange with additional multi-asset products, subject to region
Founded 2013
Main products Spot, Futures, Margin, Alpha, Convert, trading bots, Copy Trading, Earn, API and other tools, subject to region
Standard Spot fee reference VIP0: 0.10% maker / 0.10% taker
GT Spot fee reference VIP0: 0.09% maker / 0.09% taker when the applicable GT fee deduction is used
Futures fee example VIP0 USDT-M TradFi perpetuals: 0.0200% maker / 0.0500% taker; other futures schedules can differ
Alpha fee reference Official Gate pages currently conflict: fee overview 0.8%; Alpha FAQ 0.5% per order. Check live order details.
KYC Identity verification requirements and service access vary by entity and region
Proof of Reserves Merkle Tree + zk-SNARK verification and user self-check tools
Platform access Web, mobile app and API access
HFR cashback 20% of eligible commissions paid on currently listed Spot and Alpha activity
HFR payout Daily & Direct to the Gate account

The table is a general reference, not a universal account specification. Fees, product access, KYC requirements and legal terms can change according to jurisdiction, legal entity, VIP tier and product. HFR cashback should be checked separately from Gate’s own pricing and product availability.

Gate fees in 2026

Gate trading fees in 2026 illustrated with a 3D transaction receipt, coins and percentage symbol on a dark blue background.

Gate uses maker/taker pricing for order-book trading, but one headline percentage does not describe the full fee structure. Rates can depend on product, VIP level, order type and eligible fee deductions or promotions.

For Spot trading, Gate’s current fee schedule lists VIP0 at 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker. At VIP0, the same table shows 0.09% maker and 0.09% taker when the applicable GT fee deduction is used. Higher VIP tiers use different published rates.

HFR’s crypto exchange trading-fees guide explains maker/taker fees, funding, spread and other exchange costs separately.

Futures fees need more care because Gate uses different schedules for different contract categories. From 1 September 2026, Gate introduced a dedicated fee schedule for USDT-M TradFi perpetuals linked to assets such as stocks, metals, indices, forex and commodities. Under that specific schedule, VIP0 is 0.0200% maker and 0.0500% taker. These figures should not be presented as universal across every Gate derivatives product.

Funding is separate from the trading commission. Perpetual-contract funding is determined by the funding mechanism and the position held at settlement. It should not be assumed to qualify for HFR cashback unless the current HFR terms explicitly include it.

Gate Alpha needs an extra fee check because Gate’s own official pages are currently inconsistent. The public fee overview displays a 0.8% Alpha trading fee, while Gate’s Alpha FAQ states a 0.5% transaction fee per order. Because those official references conflict, do not present either figure as universal. Check the fee shown in the live Alpha order details before trading; that is the practical account-level reference at the time of the order.

Withdrawal charges are not one universal percentage. They vary by asset and blockchain network and can change. Check the withdrawal screen before confirming a transfer.

Simple Gate fee and HFR cashback example

Suppose a VIP0 user places a $10,000 Spot taker trade at the standard 0.10% taker fee:

$10,000 × 0.10% = $10 trading fee

If the full $10 commission is eligible for the current 20% HFR cashback arrangement:

$10 × 20% = $2 cashback

The remaining commission cost after the rebate would be $8. This is an illustration only. The actual Gate fee can differ because of VIP level, GT fee deductions, promotions or product-specific pricing, while HFR cashback depends on correct account tracking and eligible activity confirmed under the current terms.

Gate trading products and tools

Gate trading products and tools illustrated with a cryptocurrency trading dashboard, candlestick charts and trading icons.

Gate provides several trading and account tools, but the available product set depends on the user’s legal entity, country, verification status and account configuration.

Spot trading covers direct buying and selling of supported crypto assets. Margin trading allows eligible users to borrow assets for leveraged positions, which introduces borrowing costs and greater risk if the market moves against the position.

Gate also offers perpetual Futures for eligible users. These contracts use margin and can involve leverage, funding payments and liquidation. Contract availability, leverage limits and risk parameters vary by market and jurisdiction. Gate also lists options and TradFi-related products in some interfaces, but these should not be treated as universally available.

Gate Convert allows supported assets to be exchanged without using the standard order-book interface. Gate Alpha provides access to selected on-chain assets through Gate’s Alpha environment. Alpha fees and execution mechanics should be checked separately from standard Spot trading.

The broader toolset includes trading bots, Copy Trading, Earn products and API access. Copy Trading can involve Spot or Futures activity depending on the service, so the user still bears the risks of the underlying trades.

HFR’s guide to how a crypto exchange works explains order books, wallets, maker/taker fees and derivatives for readers who want the mechanics before comparing Gate’s product menu.

How Gate cashback works through HighFxRebates

Gate cashback through HighFxRebates illustrated with a trading fee receipt and a cashback arrow pointing toward an exchange account.

Gate’s own trading fees and the HighFxRebates cashback arrangement are separate. Gate first charges the fee that applies to the product, VIP level and any eligible fee reduction. HFR then calculates cashback from qualifying activity under the current HFR-Gate arrangement.

HFR currently lists 20% of eligible commissions paid, with cashback processed Daily & Direct. The current HFR product table covers:

  • Spot: 20% of eligible commissions paid
  • Alpha: 20% of eligible commissions paid

The 20% rate applies to the eligible commission basis. It does not mean 20% of trading volume, deposits, account balance or trading profit.

How Crypto Exchange Cashback Is Calculated explains how eligible fees, account status and payout rules affect the final rebate amount.

The cash amount can change even when the cashback percentage stays the same. VIP pricing, GT fee reductions, vouchers, promotional rates or zero-fee conditions can reduce the commission actually charged. Where the eligible commission is lower, the percentage-based rebate can also be lower. A genuinely zero-fee trade normally provides no paid commission from which to calculate a percentage rebate unless the applicable HFR terms state another basis.

The current HFR Gate table does not list Futures, Margin, Copy Trading or other Gate products, so those fees should not be assumed to qualify simply because the products are available on the exchange.

What Is Crypto Exchange Cashback? provides a broader explanation of tracking, eligible fees and payout mechanics.

Cashback does not change Gate’s spreads, execution, market prices, funding payments, margin requirements, liquidation rules or the outcome of a trade. It may offset part of an eligible trading cost after confirmation, but it does not reduce market, leverage, custody or counterparty risk.

New and existing Gate accounts

For a new Gate account, start from the HFR Gate cashback page and use the tracked registration link. After creating the Gate account, enter the Gate UID in the Crypto Accounts section of the HFR dashboard and wait for confirmation before relying on cashback tracking.

For an existing Gate account, HFR currently instructs users to contact Gate support and request that the account be moved or attributed under HFR referral code AVJDBG9Z. Gate controls whether an existing account can be reassigned, so approval is not guaranteed. If Gate does not permit the transfer, the current HFR procedure may require a new account opened through the correct tracked route.

Do not assume activity completed before attribution and HFR confirmation will qualify. Account linking, product eligibility, KYC and regional rules should be confirmed before relying on cashback.

Common Crypto Exchange Cashback Mistakes covers common linking, eligibility and payout problems.

Gate legal entities and regional regulation illustrated with a digital globe, separate institutional symbols and connecting lines.

Gate should not be treated as operating through one legal company or one regulatory framework worldwide. Gate’s licences page states that “Gate” is a brand used by different legal entities and that those entities operate independently. The company and legal terms that apply therefore depend on the user’s jurisdiction and onboarding route.

For the European Union, a current example is Gate Technology Ltd, a Maltese company registered under number C89337. Gate states that this entity is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider under authorisation GTEC-25238 and as a Financial Institution under authorisation GTEC-25926.

Those permissions apply to Gate Technology Ltd and the services covered by its authorisations. They should not be presented as licences for every Gate user or every Gate group company. Gate’s EU User Agreement identifies Gate Technology Ltd as the counterparty for the EU service and sets out the services provided through that entity.

Other Gate entities operate under different legal frameworks, permissions and service restrictions. A consolidated list of “Gate countries” or “Gate licences” can therefore be misleading if it combines several entities without explaining which clients each one serves.

Regulation provides a legal and supervisory framework, but it does not guarantee asset safety, execution quality, reimbursement if losses occur or profitable trading outcomes. Crypto trading retains market, custody, operational and counterparty risks regardless of entity.

KYC, deposits and withdrawals

Gate uses Know Your Customer (KYC) identity verification as part of onboarding and compliance. Exact documents, verification steps, account limits and available services vary by legal entity and region. Gate EU currently states that KYC must be completed before deposits or withdrawals, and additional verification can be requested in some cases.

For crypto deposits and withdrawals, the blockchain network matters as much as the asset. The sending and receiving network must match, and some assets require extra information such as a tag or memo. An incompatible network or incorrect address can result in delayed or unrecoverable funds.

Gate does not publish one universal crypto withdrawal charge. Fees vary by asset and network, and the amount displayed on the live withdrawal screen should be treated as the current reference.

Fiat deposits, card purchases and other payment methods also depend on jurisdiction, Gate entity and payment provider. One card or fiat funding fee should not be presented as applying to every Gate account.

Gate security and Proof of Reserves

Gate security and Proof of Reserves illustrated with a digital vault, security shield, padlock and blockchain verification symbols.

Gate’s security features are easier to assess when account-level controls are separated from exchange-level reserve transparency.

At account level, Gate provides controls including Google Authenticator/2FA, anti-phishing codes, passkeys, fund-password settings and withdrawal-address management. Exact options depend on the regional service and interface. Users should review trusted or verification-free withdrawal settings carefully because reducing later verification can increase the impact of an account compromise.

These controls can reduce some unauthorised-access and withdrawal risks, but they cannot remove cybersecurity, phishing or user-security risk.

Separately, Gate publishes Proof of Reserves using a Merkle Tree and zk-SNARK system. The process is designed to let users check whether their balance is included in the relevant Merkle Tree and verify the published proof without exposing individual account balances.

The latest dated Gate reserve report located during this review uses a 19 August 2026 snapshot. Gate reported approximately $8.215 billion in total reserves and an overall reserve ratio of 127%. Gate also published asset-specific figures for BTC, ETH and several stablecoins.

Proof of Reserves has limits. It is a point-in-time comparison of the assets, user liabilities and methodology included in the report. It is not the same as a complete audit of the exchange’s corporate balance sheet, all liabilities, internal controls or future liquidity. A reserve ratio above 100% should not be treated as insurance, a solvency guarantee or proof that assets cannot be lost.

Gate advantages and limitations

Potential advantages Limitations / checks
Broad access to Spot, derivatives and other trading tools in supported regions Products and features differ by legal entity, country and verification status
Published VIP fee structure for Spot and multiple Futures categories Futures and other leveraged products involve margin, funding and liquidation risk
Account controls including 2FA, anti-phishing tools, passkeys and withdrawal protections Security controls do not remove cybersecurity, custody or counterparty risk
Published Proof of Reserves with user self-verification PoR is point-in-time transparency, not a full financial audit or solvency guarantee
HFR cashback on eligible Spot and Alpha commissions Current HFR terms do not show cashback for every Gate product
Multiple crypto deposit and withdrawal networks Withdrawal fees vary by asset and network and can change

Gate may offer a wide product range, but users should compare the exact fee schedule, legal entity, regional restrictions and custody model that apply to their account. HFR cashback should be checked separately because eligibility depends on the current HFR arrangement and qualifying activity.

Who may consider Gate, and who may prefer another exchange?

Gate may be worth comparing for users in supported jurisdictions who want access to a broad mix of Spot trading, derivatives and additional trading tools within one exchange and who are comfortable checking product-specific fees and regional terms before using a service.

Another exchange may be more appropriate where the user needs:

  • a different local regulatory entity or legal framework
  • a simpler product range with fewer derivatives or advanced tools
  • a non-custodial structure rather than keeping assets with a centralised exchange
  • different fiat deposit, card-payment or withdrawal support
  • a cashback arrangement covering products that are not currently eligible under the HFR-Gate programme

The current HFR Gate arrangement applies to eligible Spot and Alpha commissions. Users mainly interested in Futures, Margin or other Gate products should not assume those fees qualify for cashback. The better comparison depends on required products, fees, custody model, regional access and legal entity rather than on one headline feature.

Gate review 2026: practical takeaway

Gate is best assessed at product and account level rather than through one headline fee or feature. Before using the exchange, check the fee schedule for the specific product, the legal entity and regional terms that apply, and whether the custody and account-security model meets your requirements.

HFR cashback is separate from those Gate conditions. The current arrangement returns 20% of eligible commissions paid on listed Spot and Alpha activity, with rebates paid Daily & Direct. Other Gate products should not be assumed to qualify.

Before registering or relying on a quoted fee or rebate rate, check Gate’s live fee and entity pages together with the current HFR Gate cashback page. Crypto and derivatives trading can result in significant losses, and cashback does not reduce trading or custody risk.

Frequently asked questions

Is Gate the same as Gate.io?

Yes. Gate.io and Gate.com refer to the same platform. Gate adopted Gate.com as its main international domain on 19 May 2025 as part of a brand and domain update rather than creating a separate exchange.

What are Gate Spot trading fees in 2026?

Gate currently lists VIP0 Spot fees at 0.10% maker and 0.10% taker. The VIP0 table also shows 0.09% maker/taker when the applicable GT fee deduction is used. Higher VIP tiers and promotions can use different rates.

What are Gate Futures trading fees?

Futures fees depend on the VIP tier and contract category. For the specific USDT-M TradFi perpetual schedule introduced from 1 September 2026, VIP0 is 0.0200% maker and 0.0500% taker. Do not apply those figures automatically to every Gate Futures contract.

What is the Gate Alpha trading fee?

Gate’s official pages currently show conflicting Alpha fee references: the public fee overview displays 0.8%, while the Alpha FAQ states 0.5% per order. Check the fee shown in the live Alpha order details before trading rather than relying on one static figure.

Does Gate require KYC?

Gate uses identity verification as part of its KYC and AML procedures. Exact requirements depend on the legal entity and region. Gate EU currently requires KYC before deposits or withdrawals.

Is Gate regulated?

Regulation depends on the Gate entity serving the user. For example, Gate Technology Ltd in Malta is authorised by the MFSA as a Crypto-Asset Service Provider and Financial Institution. Those permissions do not apply automatically to every Gate entity worldwide.

Does Gate publish Proof of Reserves?

Yes. Gate publishes Proof of Reserves using Merkle Tree and zk-SNARK verification. The latest dated reserve report located for this review used a 19 August 2026 snapshot and reported about $8.215 billion in reserves with a 127% overall reserve ratio. PoR is point-in-time transparency, not a solvency guarantee.

What is the HFR Gate cashback rate?

HFR currently offers 20% of eligible commissions paid under the Gate cashback arrangement.

Which Gate products qualify for HFR cashback?

The current HFR Gate table lists Spot and Alpha. Futures, Margin, Copy Trading and other Gate products should not be assumed to qualify.

Can an existing Gate account be linked to HighFxRebates?

Possibly. HFR currently instructs existing users to ask Gate support to attribute the account under referral code AVJDBG9Z. Gate controls approval, so reassignment is not guaranteed.

Where and how often are Gate rebates paid?

Eligible Gate rebates are currently paid Daily & Direct to the user’s Gate account after qualifying activity is confirmed.

Sources and methodology

This is a desk-based review fact-checked on 10 October 2026. Gate fees, products, legal-entity information, KYC guidance, security controls and Proof of Reserves were checked against current Gate pages and announcements. HFR-specific cashback terms were checked separately against the live HighFxRebates Gate listing. Gate’s official Alpha sources currently conflict: the public fee overview displays 0.8%, while the Alpha FAQ states 0.5% per order, so this review directs readers to the live order details rather than treating either static figure as universal. Product availability, fee schedules, regional terms and reserve reports can change, so live pages remain the final reference before registration or trading.

Risk warning and disclaimer

Crypto assets and derivatives can be highly volatile. Futures, Margin and other leveraged products can magnify losses and may result in liquidation. Centralised exchange users also face custody, cybersecurity, operational and counterparty risks. Proof of Reserves and regulatory authorisations do not guarantee that assets cannot be lost.

Cashback may offset part of an eligible trading commission after qualifying activity is confirmed, but it does not reduce market risk, leverage risk, liquidation risk, funding-rate risk, custody risk or the risk of loss.
