XM’s account types, leverage, platforms and promotions are not identical in every country. The international page reviewed displays Standard, Ultra Low and Shares accounts, while other XM entities may show Micro, XM Zero or Professional configurations. Trading costs and legal protections can also change with the account, instrument and contracting entity.
This XM review examines current accounts, fees, platforms, markets, leverage, funding and regulation. It also explains HighFxRebates cashback, including the different setup for a new XM client and an existing client who needs to open an additional sub-account.
Conditions vary by entity, account and country. Check the options shown during registration and the live HFR XM page before opening an account or expecting rebate tracking.
Affiliate disclosure: HighFxRebates may receive compensation when eligible users register through partner links. This does not change XM’s broker conditions, and cashback remains subject to HFR and XM eligibility requirements.
Data checked: 8 August 2026. XM account types, trading conditions, instruments, promotions and HFR cashback terms can change by entity, country and account. Check the current XM and HFR pages before registration.

Review the current XM cashback rates before registering. For regional broker conditions, check the current XM account types and official legal documents.
What Is XM and How Does It Operate?
XM is a trading brand used by several legal entities. Depending on the client’s country, it provides access mainly to forex and other financial instruments through CFDs, together with selected share services in supported configurations. The exact company and client agreement are determined during registration.
XM’s official help centre describes the broker as a market maker. This means it quotes bid and ask prices and may act as principal or counterparty under the applicable agreement. It should not be confused with direct exchange access or ownership of every underlying asset.
A CFD follows the price movement of an underlying market without transferring ownership of the represented currency, commodity, index or share. The Shares account is different: on the international page reviewed, XM presents it for purchasing supported company shares through MT5.
Before depositing, verify the company name, regulator, licence details, and governing agreement shown for the account. One group-level description should not be applied to every XM client.
Who May XM Suit?
XM may suit users who want MetaTrader platforms and account configurations that start from a $5 minimum deposit in supported regions. Beginners may also find its platform guides, webinars and educational material useful for learning how the broker’s tools and products work.
Micro-sized configurations can help users choose smaller position units where available, but smaller contract sizes do not remove leverage or loss risk. Promotions may also be offered in selected regions under separate eligibility rules.
XM may be less suitable for users who require one universal global account structure, a raw-spread account in every region, or direct ownership of all displayed products. Account names, costs, leverage and legal protections must be checked for the assigned entity.
Which XM Account Types Are Available?
XM account types vary by country and legal entity. An XM Global Limited account configuration reviewed displays Standard, Ultra Low and Shares accounts, while other XM entities and regional configurations may show different account types. Other regional pages or help-centre configurations may refer to Micro, XM Zero or Professional accounts. The account types shown during registration are the best reference for the client’s country and assigned entity.

Standard, Micro and Ultra Low
The public international page presents Standard and Ultra Low as separate account cards. XM help content may still refer to Micro or Ultra Low Micro symbol groups, so contract size and symbol suffixes should be confirmed in the registration area and platform. Do not assume that Micro is a separate account in every country.
The Ultra Low page does not provide one universal spread or commission figure. XM presents it as a lower-cost account with low spreads and reduced swap fees and commissions, but the live spread, swap and commission for the selected instrument remain the final reference.
Shares, XM Zero and Professional
The Shares account is shown with a $10,000 minimum deposit and is not a general forex account. XM Zero and Professional are not displayed on the international page reviewed, although they appear in selected regional configurations. Their commissions, eligibility, leverage and platform conditions depend on the relevant entity and regional account configuration.
The reviewed international page states that its listed accounts include negative-balance protection, hedging and an Islamic option. Those conditions should not automatically be extended to every XM entity.
XM Spreads, Commissions and Other Fees
XM trading costs depend on the account, instrument, position size, market conditions and holding period. The international account page does not show a complete numerical pricing schedule, so live platform prices and the symbol specification are more useful than account-card marketing alone.
| Cost area | What to check |
|---|---|
| Spread | Variable and instrument-specific. An advertised minimum is not the same as a typical or continuously available spread. |
| Commission | Account- and product-specific. Add any separate commission to the live spread when comparing costs. |
| Swap | An overnight charge or credit can apply when an eligible position remains open through rollover. |
| Dormancy | $10 per month after more than 90 days without qualifying activity on the help-centre configuration reviewed; no fee if the available balance is zero. |
| Conversion | May apply when the account, deposit or trading currency differs from the currency used for the charge or settlement. |
Positions held through rollover may receive an overnight charge or credit. The HFR guide to forex swap fees explains how direction, position size and rollover schedules can affect that cost.
A lower advertised spread does not automatically mean a lower total cost. Compare the live spread, commission, swap, conversion costs and eligible cashback for the exact account and instrument.
XM Trading Platforms and Tools
XM supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, browser-based WebTrader access and the XM App. Platform choice matters because MT4 and MT5 use separate account credentials and do not provide identical product access.

MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5
MT4 focuses mainly on forex and CFDs and supports charting, one-click trading, custom indicators and Expert Advisors through MQL4. MT5 adds broader multi-asset tools, more analytical functions and automation through MQL5.
XM’s help centre states that stock CFDs are available only through MT5. A client using MT4 therefore needs an additional MT5 account for those products. An MT4 login cannot be used directly on MT5.
XM App and Copy Trading
The XM App can support trading, deposits, withdrawals, internal transfers and account management for connected accounts. XM Copy Trading is also available in supported regions and allows users to follow Strategy Managers under separate terms. Copy trading does not guarantee similar results and can reproduce losses as well as gains.
Markets and Instruments Available at XM
XM’s available markets depend on the legal entity, account and platform. The reviewed international website lists forex, cryptocurrencies, stock derivatives, Turbo Stocks, commodities, equity indices, precious metals, energies, shares and thematic indices.
XM has also introduced GOLD24-7, a new gold trading instrument that, according to information provided by XM to HFR, gives eligible clients access to gold trading seven days a week. Availability and trading conditions may vary by entity, account and platform.
HFR cashback is also available for eligible GOLD24-7 trades. Under the current HFR arrangement, the rebate is $18 per round-turn lot for Standard accounts and $9 for Ultra Low accounts. For Micro accounts, the corresponding rates are $0.18 for Micro Standard and $0.09 for Micro Ultra Low per round-turn lot. The account must be correctly attributed to HFR and meet the applicable cashback conditions.
Stock derivatives track a company’s share price without providing ownership of the underlying shares. XM presents its separate Shares service as access to supported company shares through the Shares account and MT5. Availability remains regional.
XM’s MENA website advertises more than 1,400 assets, but this is a regional marketing figure rather than a universal product count. Check the live symbol list for the assigned entity before relying on a number or product category.
XM Leverage, Margin and Negative-Balance Protection
XM advertises leverage up to 1:1000 on selected international configurations. This is not a universal limit. Maximum leverage can depend on the legal entity, account equity, instrument, position size, and regulatory rules; some regional XM pages advertise lower maximums.
Higher leverage reduces the margin needed to open a position but increases exposure relative to the account balance. A small adverse move can therefore produce a large loss or lead to forced position closure more quickly.
XM’s international marketing states that negative-balance protection is available for the reviewed configuration. This is intended to prevent an eligible trading account from retaining a balance below zero, but it does not protect the deposited balance or guarantee execution at a requested price.
Margin-call and stop-out levels can vary by entity and account. Use the client agreement and trading conditions assigned during registration rather than treating one regional percentage as group-wide.
Deposits, Withdrawals and Inactivity Fees
XM currently gives $5 as a general minimum deposit or withdrawal on the help-centre configuration reviewed, while noting that payment-method minimums can differ. Specialised accounts such as Shares may require more.
Available funding methods depend on the client’s country. Deposits and withdrawals normally need to use an account held in the XM client’s own name. Withdrawals follow return-to-source and priority rules, so funds may need to be sent back through the original method before another destination can be used.
XM states that it does not charge its own deposit or withdrawal fees. It also states that it covers fees imposed by its bank on international bank wires of at least $200, subject to change. Intermediary banks, card providers, or payment services may still impose charges.
Processing time is different from final receipt time. XM says some requests are processed immediately or on the same day, while card and bank-wire withdrawals usually take two to five business days to reach the receiving account.
A monthly inactivity fee of $10 may apply after more than 90 days without qualifying activity under the help-centre configuration reviewed. When the available balance is below $10, the remaining balance may be charged; no fee is taken when the balance is zero. Entity-specific terms remain final.
XM Regulation and Client Protection by Entity
XM operates through separate legal entities. A client is not simultaneously protected by every regulator associated with the XM brand. The company named in the registration form and client agreement determines the applicable law, complaint route, leverage and protection framework.
| Legal entity | Regulator or licence | Role |
|---|---|---|
| XM Global Limited | Belize Financial Services Commission, licence 8557558 | International trading entity on the website reviewed. |
| Trading Point of Financial Instruments Ltd | Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, licence 120/10 | Cyprus investment firm operating under EU rules. |
| XM (SC) Limited | Listed by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under the trade name XMGlobal | Seychelles-regulated group entity. |
| Trading Point MENA Limited | Dubai Financial Services Authority, reference F003484 | Authorised for specified investment services; review the public-register permissions and restrictions. |
| XM International MU Limited | Mauritius Financial Services Commission, licence GB23202700 | Trading entity used for accounts opened through the current UAE arrangement. |
| XM Financial Products Promotion L.L.C | UAE Capital Market Authority, licence 20200000322 | Introduction and promotional services only; not authorised to hold client money. |

Clients contracted with the CySEC entity may be eligible for the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund, subject to the fund’s rules and exclusions. This should not be assumed for accounts under Belize, Seychelles, Dubai or Mauritius entities.
The UAE arrangement illustrates why the company promoting XM may not be the company holding the trading account. XM Financial Products Promotion L.L.C provides introduction and promotional services, while the associated trading account is registered with XM International MU Limited.
Regulation provides oversight but does not prevent market losses, execution problems, insolvency, or other broker risks. Verify the exact entity before depositing.
Does XM Offer Bonuses and Promotions?
XM offers bonuses, competitions and other promotions in selected regions. Availability depends on the entity, country, account type, registration route and campaign period. A promotion shown on one XM website may not be offered after another country is selected.
Bonus funds may be trading credit rather than withdrawable cash. Withdrawals or internal transfers can reduce or remove promotional credit under the applicable terms. Review the campaign rules instead of relying on the headline amount.
XM promotions and HFR cashback are separate arrangements. The guide to forex rebates and trading bonuses explains the main differences.
How Does XM Cashback Work Through HighFxRebates?
HighFxRebates lists account- and instrument-specific XM cashback for eligible non-EU clients. The account must be opened through the correct HFR route and confirmed before tracking begins. Only eligible closed positions qualify, and trades held for less than five minutes are excluded.
Readers who are new to the process can first review how forex rebates work and why account confirmation matters.
XM Cashback Rates
The live HFR page currently displays a maximum of up to $190 per round-turn lot for selected instruments. The highest figure is not the normal forex rate: Standard-account forex is currently listed at up to $81 per round-turn lot, while selected cryptocurrency CFDs reach the $190 maximum. Ultra Low, Micro Standard and Micro Ultra Low use different tables.
The HFR guide to how to read a forex rebate page explains how account type, instrument, payout destination and eligibility affect an “up to” rate. For a volume example, review how forex cashback is calculated per lot.
New and Existing XM Clients
- New clients should open XM through the HFR registration route, complete XM verification, and submit the new trading account through the Forex Accounts section of the HFR dashboard.
- Existing XM clients are instructed to access XM through the HFR route and open an additional sub-account. The current instructions do not describe transferring an existing trading account.
- The current HFR partner code for XM is WQ89V.
- Cashback should not be expected until the account has been reviewed and confirmed under HFR.
Eligibility, Payment Timing and Destination
- EU clients are not currently eligible for the HFR XM cashback arrangement.
- Positions held for less than five minutes do not qualify.
- Only eligible closed positions are included.
- Rates depend on the account and instrument.
Eligible non-EU XM rebates are credited directly to XM MyWallet twice weekly. Trades closed from Tuesday to Thursday are scheduled for payment on Tuesday, while trades closed from Friday to Monday are scheduled for payment on Thursday. Payment remains subject to broker reporting, account attribution, and HFR eligibility requirements.
Review the live HFR XM page before opening a new account or additional sub-account. Cashback may offset part of eligible costs after confirmation, but it does not change XM’s spreads, commissions, swaps, execution conditions or trading risk.
XM Pros and Limitations
| Potential strengths | Limitations |
|---|---|
| Standard and Ultra Low are shown with a $5 minimum deposit on the international page reviewed. | Accounts, leverage, promotions and protections vary by country and legal entity. |
| MT4, MT5, WebTrader and the XM App provide several access options. | Some instruments require MT5, and MT4 and MT5 accounts are not interchangeable. |
| XM provides educational content and multilingual support resources. | Education is not personalised advice and does not reduce trading risk. |
| Eligible HFR cashback may offset part of supported trading costs after confirmation. | EU clients are not eligible for the HFR XM cashback. |
XM spreads can widen during news events, political uncertainty or lower liquidity. Compare the exact account’s spread, commission, swap, platform access and cashback eligibility rather than relying on one headline feature.
XM Review Verdict
XM may be considered by users who want MetaTrader, the XM App, educational resources and Standard and Ultra Low configurations with a $5 minimum deposit where available in supported regions. The international configuration reviewed lists Standard and Ultra Low accounts with a $5 minimum deposit, while other account families appear under selected entities.
The main limitation is the lack of one universal global structure. Account names, costs, leverage, instruments, promotions, and protections can change with the country and contracting entity. Confirm the legal company and live account specification before registering.
HFR cashback may be relevant to eligible non-EU clients after the correct account route has been used and approved. Rates vary by account and instrument, and short-duration or open positions are excluded. Compare the live XM specifications with current HFR conditions and wait for confirmation before expecting tracking.
FAQ
Is XM a regulated broker?
XM operates through several legal entities authorised in different jurisdictions. The entity assigned during registration determines the applicable rules, leverage and protections. Regulation provides oversight but does not prevent trading losses, execution problems or broker risk.
What is the minimum deposit at XM?
The international page reviewed states a $5 minimum for Standard and Ultra Low accounts and $10,000 for Shares. Payment-method minimums and regional account requirements can differ, so the amount shown during registration is the final reference.
What account types does XM offer?
The international page reviewed displays Standard, Ultra Low and Shares. Micro, XM Zero or Professional configurations may appear in supported regions. Pricing, contract size, leverage, platforms and promotion eligibility vary by account and entity.
What platforms does XM support?
XM supports MT4, MT5, WebTrader and the XM App, subject to regional availability. MT5 provides broader product access, while MT4 and MT5 use separate account credentials. XM Copy Trading is also available in supported regions.
What leverage does XM offer?
XM advertises up to 1:1000 on selected international configurations. The actual limit depends on the entity, instrument, account equity, and margin rules. Higher leverage increases exposure and can cause losses or forced position closure more quickly.
How does XM cashback work through HFR?
HFR lists different rates by account and instrument. Eligible non-EU accounts must be opened through the correct HFR route and confirmed. Trades held for less than five minutes and positions that remain open do not currently qualify.
Can an existing XM client receive HFR cashback?
Existing XM clients are currently instructed to open an additional sub-account through the HFR route and submit the new account for confirmation. This differs from transferring an existing trading account. Cashback should not be expected before approval.
Does XM cashback remove trading risk?
No. Cashback may offset part of an eligible spread or commission after confirmation, but it does not affect market direction or remove leverage, liquidation, swap, spread, slippage, execution, counterparty, broker or loss risk.
Sources and Review Methodology
This is a desk-based review and does not claim that HFR opened, funded or tested a live XM account. Information was checked on 8 August 2026 against XM account, legal, platform, leverage, funding and help-centre pages; official regulatory registers; and the live HFR XM broker page.
Account availability, fees, leverage, instruments, promotions and legal protections can change by country and entity. Live platform prices, the registration flow and the assigned client agreement remain the final references.
Risk Warning and Disclaimer
Cashback may help offset part of eligible spread or commission costs after account approval, but it does not reduce market risk, leverage risk, liquidation risk, swap risk, execution risk, slippage risk, broker risk, counterparty risk or the risk of loss.
This review is for educational and informational purposes only. It should not be treated as financial advice, investment advice, trading advice, or a recommendation to open an account with XM or trade any forex, CFD, share, or other financial instrument.
