Overview of KuCoin
KuCoin is a global cryptocurrency exchange launched in 2017 and operated internationally through different regional entities. The platform is widely known for offering a broad range of crypto markets, including spot trading, margin trading, futures, trading bots, copy trading, earn products, crypto lending, fiat access, and API connectivity.
For regular traders, KuCoin’s core strength is market coverage. The exchange lists more than 1,000 digital assets and supports a large number of trading pairs, making it suitable for users who want access to major cryptocurrencies as well as smaller altcoins. Its trading interface includes charting tools, order-book data, multiple order types, and mobile access through iOS and Android apps.
KuCoin also supports derivatives trading through its futures platform. Futures users can trade perpetual contracts with leverage up to 125x on selected markets, although leverage availability depends on the contract and user eligibility. Because leveraged products carry higher liquidation risk, they should be used carefully and only by users who understand margin requirements, funding rates, and position risk.
In addition to manual trading, KuCoin offers automated and assisted trading tools. These include trading bots, copy trading, and API access for users who want to connect external tools or automated strategies. KuCoin’s copy trading feature allows users to follow lead traders, while its API documentation supports market data, trading, account, and futures endpoints.
From a compliance perspective, KuCoin now operates with a stronger regional structure than in earlier years. KuCoin EU Exchange GmbH is licensed under MiCAR and supervised by the Austrian Financial Markets Authority for specific crypto-asset services in the EEA, except Malta. KuCoin’s Australian structure also includes AUSTRAC registration for digital currency exchange services. However, availability still varies by country, product, and entity.
KuCoin requires identity verification for full account functionality. Users who have not completed verification may face restrictions on deposits, earn products, launchpad access, and other services. This makes KYC an important step for users who want normal platform access.
For HighFxRebates users, KuCoin cashback is a cost-offset feature. Eligible users can receive 8% of the commissions paid as rebates on eligible trades, paid daily and directly to their KuCoin account. Cashback does not change KuCoin’s trading fees, spreads, execution, leverage, funding rates, or account conditions.
